RNB Wet work stations and dehooking gut hooked flatties
The RNB wet work stations are used in our club matches and are very effective. The RNB wet work stations are used in our club matches and intended to deal with any fish with the minimum of stress to it. The club's wet work stations consist of a large bucket, a plastic chopping board and a pair of straight forceps. The bucket is filled with sea water. As soon as a flatty is landed it is placed in the sea water and given a few seconds before being put on the wet chopping board. Forceps are used to push through the flatty's gills and through its mouth. The hook snood is gripped and pulled back through the gills and the hook with it. The hook is then gripped using forceps and pushed back through its gills and mouth. This only takes seconds. If needed the fish is weighed and placed back in the bucket of sea water and seconds later returned to the sea. We have done this numerous times and there is no blood and the flatties look healthy when returned alive and well.
