RNB Anglers United Hebburn Club

Club Intro

The RNB Anglers United Hebburn club is a newly formed club. The club has been designed to improve and build within the sea angling community.

The club has official matches every 2 weeks on a Sunday and has several competitions built into its yearly main league with prizes and trophies to be won throughout.

All matches begin with registration where all members are briefed on the specifics of a match while a club marshal checks the boundaries and sets up the wet work stations and gets pegs measured out. Supervisors will provide any additional training or instructions and wet work stations and first aid resources are explained before the match begins. The match is carried out with the help of supervisors and marshals. The match ends and there is a match review with winners announced and any prizes awarded.

Club supervisors are an essential part and structure of the club. The supervisors help manage and maintain the club boundaries during matches and organise any changes that need to happen throughout. From start to finish of all club matches supervisors ensure all matches are run in line with the club foundations and any welfare issues are addressed. Marshals set up the wet work stations and peg the match out while checking the boundaries throughout the match.

Core Foundations

The club's core foundations are:

  • Catch and Release
All fish in any match are unhooked, measured and weighed while being returned to the water alive within minutes of being caught. As a club we are progressively and continuously improving how we achieve this. One way we are improving is wet work stations where the fish is placed in a bucket of sea water. It is unhooked on a clean but wet surface before being returned alive.
  • Rubbish Free Fishing
All members are expected to put their rubbish in a nearby bin or at home. Club supervisors check match boundaries before the match, during the match and at the end of the match. If there are no bins present the club will provide black bags. To build on this the club is actively working towards the nationwide campaigns Anglers Against Rubbish and Keep Britain Tidy.
  • Safety While Fishing
To cover insurance purposes and look after the welfare of club members, all of our venues are risk assessed and any issues dealt with before the match begins. For more challenging marks, training in throw-line deployment, first aid and health and safety awareness will be given before these venues are fished by the club. Club supervisors are on hand during matches to identify any issues that can occur while a match is in progress. As a club we do not trespass, jump over barriers or fences and all matches are carried out in a safe and efficient way.
  • Health and Well-Being
bring the fishing community together while fishing for health and well-being.
The club does not discriminate against any of its members based on age or mobility by allowing open boundaries. All members fish within the same boundaries and have the same chances in all matches.
