Overview

Get ready to dive into the exciting journey of our recent night charity match with the fantastic RNB Anglers United Hebburn Club!

Picture this: a serene evening at Hebburn Marina, starting at 6 pm on the 29th of August, where our anglers embarked on a thrilling 12-hour adventure, all in support of the South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB). But before we even cast our lines, our incredible community banded together, raising a whopping £1605.00 for a noble cause. What a tremendous start to a night of angling, camaraderie, and fun!

Training Sessions

The evening kicked off with some enlightening training sessions led by experts. Dr. Mike Davison where he shared top-notch advice on handling emergencies, while Captain Dave Ratcliffe and Brandon Evitt from the SSVLB delved into essential water rescue techniques.

First Aid Training

My brother, Dr Mike Davison consultant in emergency medicine and pre-hospital care, taught the club how to remove hooks from body parts, how to deal with cuts, sprains and breaks from slips, trips and falls. More serious issues were covered like heart attacks to ending up in the water and drowning and a member suffering from possible Hypothermia.

Captain Dave Ratcliffe and operational team member Brandon Evitt demonstrated how to deal with a member in the water and what to do and more importantly what not to do! Then the club was trained in using throw lines with all members taught how to throw, recover the casualty, and repack the lines. The club was then given two throw lines for future matches by the SSVLB

SSVLB Training

Following on from our enlightening and engaging training sessions, with our minds enriched and spirits high, we were treated to a delicious BBQ feast prepared courtesy of the talented Steve Best and his trusty sous-chef, Justin. With our stomachs satisfied, our gear ready, and raring to go, we dove into the rest of the evening with stamina for the fishing ahead.
